On Sunday and Monday, Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans will be in Egypt for official meetings with government representatives and climate talks ahead of the forthcoming UN Climate Change Conference (COP27), which will be hosted by Egypt in the city of Sharm el–Sheikh this November. He will meet with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly; Foreign Affairs Minister, Sameh Shoukry; Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker; Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad Abdel Aziz; Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El-Molla and Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala H. Elsaid. In addition to constructive engagement ahead of COP27, EVP Timmermans will launch discussions on a Mediterranean Green Hydrogen Partnership and strengthen engagement on topics of mutual interest, such as the clean energy transition and energy efficiency, green growth models and diversification, sustainable finance, carbon markets, adaptation.
